Throwback Thursday #36 – Gone But Not Forgotten

Lauren is our hostess this week and her topic is Things I Don’t Miss

I certainly don’t miss Grammar School and didn’t have any friends there so you can’t miss what you didn’t have.
I don’t miss wearing the hand-me-downs from Sis, or the yellow frock with the white daisy collar I wore to my cousin’s wedding in 1970.
I don’t miss the arguments my sister and I used to have over the stupidest things, and sisterly closeness is something we never really shared anyway.
I don’t miss work, though the money came in handy, but our circumstances and expenditure were different then so it was a means to an end.
I don’t miss having to ‘dress up’ for work or going somewhere special as I hate shopping for clothes or shoes, so definitely happy to kick that into touch.
I think our biggest ‘Don’t Miss’ though is the TV, as we haven’t had one since 2007.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I hate dressing up for any occasion. I am glad you have been able to go without a tv, don’t think I could, but I’ve never tried to, either. X

I don’t like shopping, or posh do either 💜💜

I haven’t been in touch with other pupils of my school for more than 25 years now. I do remember their names but not their faces. I also wonder sometimes whether they remember about me or not.

We’re getting to that point with TV as well.

  5. I could go without the tv. When I am home I am blogging or doing something else to keep me busy. If I want to listen to anything it is an audible book. The other day I turned on the television while I was working with some clay. I brought that home from the studio. It was more for background noise than anything else. David likes to watch the news but I can be happy being completely out of the loop! Lol.

A great list! I don’t miss the old bosses and supervisors (bullies all) and I certainly don’t miss my old car as the new one is sooo much better!!

  7. Lauren says:

Thanks for joining in Di. I don’t miss many of the same things as you. But I for one, would miss TV terribly. I need the background noise.
