E.M.’s Sunday Ramble Prompt #20

Thanks Amy for setting the Sunday Ramble topics

This week’s topic is:

“Habits and Routines

Here are the questions:

  1. Do you have a daily routine that you are used to, or do you just go with the flow of the new day?
  2. Do you do anything in your life habitually that you wish you could stop?
  3. If habit was the acronym H.A.B.I.T, what would it be short for?
  4. Are we born with our bad habits? Or do we acquire them from the environment surrounding us?
  5. Are you a night owl, early bird, or something else when it comes to sleeping routines?

My answers:

  1. Do you have a daily routine that you are used to, or do you just go with the flow of the new day?
My routine is to get up, wash/shower, clean teeth, dress, basic exercises, breakfast, enjoy my morning cuppa, then my day can start.
I might give the dog her breakfast while the kettle’s boiling if Hubby hasn’t already done it.
  2. Do you do anything in your life habitually that you wish you could stop?
Probably my cravings for sweet stuff.
  3. If habit was the acronym H.A.B.I.T, what would it be short for?
    Halt All Bad Influences Today
  4. Are we born with our bad habits? Or do we acquire them from the environment surrounding us?
I think we absorb them from what we see and if left unchecked they develop into habits we can’t break or control.
  5. Are you a night owl, early bird, or something else when it comes to sleeping routines?
Neither. I can be shattered, have an early night and not sleep, or I fall asleep at the drop of a hat for hours………….. or at least I used to. Since Maya came into our lives, our sleeping patterns are simply lucky if we can get a few hours uninterrupted. Goes with the territory of house training and having a puppy. It will pass.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I remember the ‘puppy days’ of some of my dogs. The energy those (in my case little) dogs have is amazing, but how fast they just fall asleep is too. So wonderful! ❤

    • Maya’s great when she’s asleep LOL. It’s like throwing a switch with pups. Thing is she has a lot of energy, but we can’t exercise her too much because her bones are still soft and we could do more harm than good, so we are trying to find a balance. She’s wonderful though and will be so worth the effort.

Hey Di 🙂 I remember training Klaus and Marcel both, and it was definitely as demanding as my children’s potty training lol. Great acronym too! I am a bad habit eater, an emotional/boredom eater. I lose weight and then boom…it’s back like an old friend. Thanks for rambling with me, and Happy Easter!

    • No kids for me, so just dogs and Maya’s training has been pretty good as she was dry indoors after day 3. I hadn’t caught her the first couple of times, but did the third day and she got the idea straight away. She is very definite in letting us know when she wants to go out, even if it’s at night, but I’d rather that than accidents indoors.
Food for me is swings and roundabouts.

Having a fur baby changes our routine for the better.
