Today is Tuesday 5th April

It is 3.40 in the afternoon and we have had a good day so far.
We were up early, though not due to Maya who although stirred at 5.30, went through until 6.20 so we were well pleased.
Hubby had an INR blood test this morning and is right where he’s supposed to be so won’t have to go back until May.
From there we went into town for breakfast, but there was a lot going on as it was bin collection day as well as deliveries, so Maya was all over the place. Not good, but not her fault. We shall now take her to a High Street on a busy day then simply sit on a bench and let people walk past her so that she can get used to crowds and rushed activity.

Hubby took her for a walk when we got back, taking the long lead so that he could give her some space. Apparently she had a wonderful time expending her excess energy.
He walked home with a couple we know and three labradors who were very tolerant of our pup. Comments have been wonderful about her behaviour and we are so proud.
She has since had a second walk, a bit of grooming, and is now flaked out at my feet.
We continue to plan our training strategy which will now include spontaneous playtime at home, and using the long lead between us so that she can explore safely when we are in open spaces. We can also introduce recall. We want to encourage her puppy curiosity but keep her safe, but she is nowhere near ready for off-lead work (and neither are we!!).

Take care and keep safe everyone

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

awesome she’s doing so well! Bravo to you both for the efforts you’ve put in to train her. I hope the training continues to go successfully. Xx

    • Thanks Carol Anne. She has come such a long way in such a short time and we are so proud of her. Still lots to do of course, but shes only a pup (which we tend to forget because of her size!)

Sounds like she is in good hands! Too often owners are overly lax or overly harsh when faced with normal puppy behavior – I think you’ve got it right!
