E.M.’s Sunday Ramble Prompt #18

Amy is our hostess for the Sunday Ramble. You can check it out here

This week the theme is vacations and travel.

Here are the questions:

  1. When at the ocean, do you want to be in it, on it, or just look at it? (If you don’t like visiting the ocean, what is a hobby you enjoy on vacation or in general?)
We are a ten minute walk from the beach, but I cannot remember the last time I swam in the sea. It is a beautiful beach, even better when it is not dripping with holidaymakers and litter.
  2. Have you ever surfed or gone snorkeling?
No, and have no intention to do so.
  3. When traveling, do you experiment with the local dining experience or pack a picnic/cook for yourself and anyone with you?
That to me is half the fun of a holiday, sampling the local cuisine, especially abroad.
I avoid chips as you can get those anywhere.
  4. What is your biggest pet peeve when traveling?
    Inconsiderate fellow travellers.
  5. Are you someone who takes a lot of photos on vacation? If so, you can share your favorite vacation photos. (If not, share your favorite vacation story.)
I took over 1000 photos when I was in NZ in 2010. I went fishing for the fist time in my life, caught the first fish, which ended up being the one and only snapper of the day. You can read all about that (with photos) here

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I always forget to take photos on vacation – I’m usually having too much fun to fiddle with taking pictures!

    Great answers Di.

I enjoyed your answers and the post from your trip 🙂 I am jealous that it’s a short walk to the beach lol. We have a little over a 2-hour drive, which isn’t bad, except that the first part of the trip is 2 lanes through the mountain. There is always one person going 10 or more miles per hour under the speed limit. Sorry to hear of the litter on the beach though! I did manage to get some waves to smack me in the rump, and it was relaxing. I would love to live close to the beach. Maybe when I hit the lottery 😀 😀 😀 Thanks for joining the ramble, Di!

    • You’re welcome. We’re looking forward to the time we can take Maya down on the beach as we’re sure she’ll have a whale of a time!

      • emkingston says:

That would be so fun! There was a guy on the beach the first day we were there, and he had a big beautiful black dog. He was tossing the ball out in the ocean, and that dog ran and got that ball every time. It was funny and fun watching them. I got to throw the ball a few times for him. Beach goers are always so nice.

      • Dogs tend to bring me their toys to throw.
We are really looking forward to watching Maya’s reaction to the water.
