Today is Monday 21st March

It’s another lovely sunny day so more washing has been done and is out on the line.
It’s been a mixed bag this morning as Maya got me up at 2.30 to do both businesses so I can’t be cross and by the time she’d settled, I had a couple of hours in the lounge.

We had breakfast quite early, then took the dog out for her first walk of the day. Our friend was just passing with Kela so we walked together. We ended up using two leads on Maya as she was too much at one stage, but she responded to that and we weren’t jerked all over the place.  We met a couple walking three dogs and there was some socialising done which went pretty well. Our friend came in for coffee and eventually Maya gave up trying to annoy entice Kela to play and both dogs settled down for a doze.

Lunch today was sausages, mash and beans, nice and straightforward. I have quite a list for shopping now which we’ll do tomorrow on the way back from Hubby’s INR. With the recent antibiotics, that’s going to be out of range again, but at least he’s being monitored properly.

Hubby is taking our friend to the doctor’s surgery for blood tests this afternoon so it’s just me and the dog for a while. Hopefully I can do some blogging and relax.
I’ve had a special offer come through for 20% discount off my order if it’s placed before March 31st. It’s worth doing so I’ll order two more sacks of the puppy food which should see us well into three months.

Take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

The puppy stage lasts a little longer in the bigger breeds… Glad Maya is responding and has figured out the potty outside idea… I’d rather be awaken at 2:30 AM and have her go out than to wake up to “accidents” in the house!!

    • Likewise, as we see it as a backward step having come this far after just three days when I finally caught her in the act and she’s asked to go outside ever since.

  3. Good morning your post reminds me of the obedience class I took last Germany too. The Class was half large unruly with a woman handle. I suspect dogs were on death row if they couldn’t behave. The instructor took the class and went and the dog from its handler. When it mishave She jerk the dog around until behave. She continued with the class until all the dogs behave. In the hou

    • I’m not a fan of jerking methods, but sometimes a quick tug on the training leash has the desired effects. I took a dog psychology course years ago and picked up some excellent tips from the tutor. She showed a video of her training methods with a retriever in Japan, and not speaking the language, did everything with hand signals, repetition, praise and reward. In just over an hour, she had the dog just how she wanted it. Sadly Maya is not that fast a learner, but we are getting there!!!

      • With larg breed you need to started training by the time they are 3 months old. I am a fan of jerking animals to your desires. Chocolate was about months old when I took the class to socialize her.
Have you of training cats and dogs by clicker method. I started with Kato ane remember what clicker meant treats two three years later.

      • Luckily our breeder had already started basic training so we are just continuing. So far so good, though we have good days and bad days The best walks are at night with no distractions.
