Dirty Skies

My Mum had some lovely sayings, from calling my Dad a clown when he’d done something a bit daft to watching ‘the doughnut machine’ making the bales of hay in the fields opposite the cottage when she came up to stay.
One of the others that has stayed with me is ‘Dirty Clouds’.
This was always when a storm was brewing and the skies came over dark and foreboding. Mum didn’t like thunderstorms and would pull the curtains or blinds to shut them out.

Such it was the other day.
As I was sitting here and looking outside, the sky came over very purple and I knew a rainbow would soon be on its way.
I was not disappointed and got the camera out and took these:

The sky got extremely dark then and the rainbow was one of the brightest I’ve seen, let alone captured in a photo.
No sooner had I downloaded the pictures and put the camera away, the rainbow disappeared and the skies opened.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I had some friends in Yorkshire, and dark clouds in the distance would often trigger “Aye …….. it’s dark over our Wilf’s mothers.”

I never found out who Wilf was …… and never met his mother!!!!! πŸ™‚

Wow! That’s a beautiful rainbow. I hang tiny prisms in my windows so I get little rainbows all over the room.

Absolutely beautiful photos, as beautiful as the memories of your mum’s sayings.
My mum hated thunder too it reminded her of the war…she would close the curtains, unplugged anything electrical and pain quietly. Bless. πŸ’œ
