Roses are red, violets are blue,
I’ve hidden the boxes of chocolates from you.
To help with your diet, at least for a day,
We’ll eat them tomorrow, whadaya say?
We may be slower and no longer young
But remember the time when We Two became One.
Over the years, you have always been mine,
So I have no need for this ‘Valentine’.
Our life together has been hit and miss,
But we have plenty on which to reminisce.
We’re older now, but still best of friends,
And passion is written on paper with pens.
Our secrets are rosy, come share this wine,
Sit here with me, and remember the time
When violets were blue and roses were red,
And we burnt off those calories together in bed.
