Today’s quote is by Lee Odden, a marketing strategist, author, speaker and social media expert. What he has said here about blogging is true of any activity which involves interaction between people.

Conversation, letters and blogging , all are social interactions. The more interest you take in others, the more interesting your ideas and opinions become. Reading other blogs and taking part in conversations in the comments section is a surefire way of generating interest. Once you have your reader’s interest, the likes, comments and follows automatically follow.

My opinion?
As bloggers, we strive to keep our readers interested, and I am still humbled by the number of people who read and follow my blog. Thank you all.
But is it true that

“A blog is only as interesting as the interest shown in others.”

I follow a fair amount of blogs for a variety of reasons, and know they don’t  necessarily follow me. Then again I visit several blogs I don’t follow regularly but this doesn’t mean to say they are not interesting to me. IMO it all comes down to content, having something to contribute on the subject or common ground, and when I started I was attracted to bloggers with pets, those who wrote poetry, short stories, or humorous posts.

Posting comments got me noticed and gradually my community and blogging family grew. I do not kid myself that the majority of followers showing on my blog actually read my stuff. If they did, my viewing figures would be thousands a day, but I have what I call ‘my regulars’, most of which I do follow, and some I consider personal friends.

I do a lot of prompts (you think?) be it photographs, word challenges or story starters,
so the part about ideas and opinions is definitely true. I so enjoy reading the different interpretations of a common picture or the use of a list of words in a poem or post is truly amazing as they are all based on different ideas and concepts.

You could also say a blog is as good an introduction as any for people to meet and share ideas, even if it is in the virtual world of a blogging platform.
