Today is Wednesday 9th February

It’s a bit overcast today but still mild for the time of year. The meters have been read and we are up on our electricity (2 wash loads yesterday plus two since the last readings and I’ve also used the oven twice this week), down on our gas, and our water is the same.
Still, everything is where it should be in comparison to last year so we are doing well.

Hubby gave me some pointers on the block editor yesterday (this post is in Classic) so I think I’d be able to bumble along if I had to. It never hurts to have a ‘dry run’ once in a while. What is most confusing is having to bounce through several screens to find anything whereas in Classic everything is immediately to hand on one.

No plans today, but I’m waiting for a phone call from the doctor about a lump on my toe. It sounds daft to be concerned, but being diabetic, I have to look after my feet. My late uncle was diabetic and had a small stone in his shoe which he didn’t stop to remove. He had a nasty place on his foot which festered, ulcerated, and he ended up losing it.  It’s not painful and not due to something in my shoe or my sock but I’m not taking any chances. Although I was on hold for a while, the receptionist arranged a call back for today. She confirmed my blood test for tomorrow and my diabetes check up is the 18th. I am so glad we changed surgeries.
Midweek, and the diet has turned on me. I have listed everything and synned where necessary, not going outside of my allowances and the scales are going in the wrong direction. I don’t understand and wondering if it’s a case of not eating enough, or maybe not the right things. I would love to wrap my face round a jam doughnut or box of chocolates to console myself. I’m cooking fish today with veg so hopefully that will bulk me up. I’m well hydrated so that’s not a problem. We’ll see.

Have a good day everyone. Take care and keep safe.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I am glad you are taking good care of yourself. Diabetics can’t take risks with extremities, especially their feet.

Good idea to consult a doctor.

  3. Weight fluctuates and sometimes it takes a few days until something naughty you ate catches up with you. It may be just normal fluctuation. Good luck with your foot. BTW I posted today and had another struggle finding classic. Eventually I did sort of. Could not find categories and it took a while to find tags. Sigh.

    • I had the same problem with my tester post yesterday and with Hubby’s help found the tags and categories under the ‘post’ option top RH side . Why do we have to go through umpteen screens when in classic one does all!!!! Hopefully Classic is going to be with us for a while yet.
The weight is an enigma as I have not cheated all week, so I should be constant at least. There is usually a variance though so I’m not going to worry too much as I am still within my allowed target parameters. Sunday is the day that counts as that’s when I text in.

Sounds like you are in tune with your body. My father was diabetic and had lots of foot issues (but he was insulin dependent)… I hope the toe lump is nothing to worry about and all the tests come out satisfactory. As for the scales – I had some soup that was a little too salty and packed on a couple pounds in water weight. It went away after a couple days….

    • I’m seeing the doc tomorrow when I have my blood test. Luckily my diabetes is diet controlled.
The weight is a nuisance, but I’m trying hard not to give in to temptation. Typically, today I’m hungry 😦
