The edible Spam (though I can appreciate why some people don’t like it) is a good stand by for us but we don’t have it often.
As for the other, I am glad that WP has Akismet which filters out a lot of the unwanted comments, though some legitimate ones do get redirected so I check my spam and trash boxes every day.
Some of the spam comments are amusing, and I giggle at the ones that say how wonderful a post is and how they have learned so much………….. when it’s a 3TC.
My blog is set up so that all comments have to be approved before they show on my posts. I appreciate and respect other people’s opinions, even if they don’t reflect my own, but people don’t have to rude or foul mouthed to get their point across.
I’ve been fortunate and only had a couple of ‘nasties’ which were immediately deleted. Like Dr T I hate it when links are left in my comments which are nothing to do with the post concerned and ask me to follow their blog. I might check it out, but I won’t necessarily follow, if said site exists in the first place.

IMO if someone is successful, spamming other people isn’t necessary. I believe the best advertisement is word of mouth, not blowing your own trumpet. So, in this instance, I agree with the quote.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    I agree with both, why spamm ?? Has anyone really made a million dollars by sending out bogus comments or emails or texts? C’mon, not buying it. I do, however, really enjoy Spam fried with eggs … yummmm. But I too don’t eat it often (I read the ingredients once …. ONCE). lol

    I don’t approve comments but I’ll delete any that are vulgar. As for spam – it never fails that I get a tone on posts that have more than 50 likes… and I don’t get many that fall into that category! Now when we talk about Spam I prefer the oven roasted turkey Spam since it has less fat and sodium than the original… It does come in handy when time is short and nothing was taken out to thaw!

    Spammers gonna spam spam spam! So we just need to shake it off.
    And true, it doesn’t make sense when one’s content should speak for itself then begging, pleading and cajoling.
