Today is Saturday 5th February

We are due to have a spell of bad weather and looking through the lounge window, it’s grey and still. We’ve been outside and it’s damn cold. The sky is that icy grey, and out to sea we can just make out a thin blue line of clear sky. Bad weather tends to go round us, but when it hits, we certainly know it. Luckily we have no plans today, but if it stays dry, we’ll go out for a walk. The yellow coats are waiting in the wings!

Lunch today is tuna fishcakes and baked beans. On the SW plan, these are free foods as I make the fish cakes and they are ‘fried’ in a pan with a light greasing of olive oil. Text weigh in for me tomorrow and I am so hoping to have kissed goodbye to those extra pounds from last week. I have been very strict with myself since Tuesday following a really bad day on Monday.

While shopping yesterday, I noticed that gingernut biscuits have gone up from 25p to 29p for a 300g pack. I checked out my shopping list charts and the last comparison I did after Brexit was in January 2021. There have been some changes, not just in price, but also weights so you’re getting less for your money.

We received a notification that our water rates are going up in April, but something caught my eye about cheaper tariffs so I followed it up. Sadly we don’t qualify as we are not on benefits, however, some good came of it as we are now on their pensioners, disabled and diabetes registers. They also have a ‘Knock and Wait’ system for those with mobility issues to allow customers plenty of time to get to the door when appointments have been made.

Have a good day everyone. Take care and keep safe.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

All our meters are outside so they just come by and read them… we don’t even know they’ve been here except in the winter when we see the footprints in the snow.

    • Our meters are outside, but we have smart meters for our gas and electricity so they are connected to our energy supplier. The water board check the meters twice a year but we are charged quarterly. However, I check their estimates (which are usually spot on or damn close) and call in the true readings when I pay the bill.
