That Marshmallow Moment

Yee-ha!! I’ve done it. Smacked my target right in the face and that marshmallow is history.
I was also equally thrilled to read this yesterday, another little snippet from Carolyn.

The scales were feeling friendly,
Smiling from the floor
Not teasing or misleading
As they had for weeks before.
That marshmallow was waiting
In the bag inside the drawer,
No doubt feeling nervous when
I walked through the bedroom door.
But something else was calling,
A treat for Hubby too,
A square box in the cupboard
With sides held down by glue:
High in everything bad for us,
We ignored the figures in red
As both of us had slices
Of our Christmas Cake instead.

Yeah, I know: more syns per slice than a marshmallow but the best before date is August compared to the end of January so I have plenty of time to relish them!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Out of such an annoying necessity is born such a nice luxury

Information I did not know! Thanks. And I love the poem!

My sister is going to make a 3 kings cake for my birthday – very decadent but I’m looking forward to it all the same!

  4. Maybe have the marshmallows later?

    • I have a pack of mini mallows where ten have only half a syn. The whole pack is 100g so that’s 16 syns if I eat them all in one sitting, but they’re very sweet so unlikely. The big ones are 4 syns each and have a long shelf life!!

      • I love marshmallows and usually feel very guilty eating them…

      • 10 of the tiny mini ones are only half a syn, and 25g is 4, so they’re not too bad. The big ones are 4 each and the bag is still sealed!!! If you’re o a low fat diet, they;re great as they are practically fat free (don’t read the sugar content though!)
