Sunday Ramble Prompt #7

EMKingston is our hostess for the Sunday Ramble. You can find out more and join in here

This week’s topic is “Books“.

Here are the questions:

  1. Do you prefer digital, paperback, or hard bound books?
  2. Do you have a library full of books or just your favorite tales?
  3. Harry Potter, Narnia, or Twilight? (You can choose all three or pick and choose.)
  4. Do you like when books are turned into movies? Why or why not?
  5. What is a book that you have read over and over again?

  1. Do you prefer digital, paperback, or hard bound books?
I’m happy with paperback or hardback, depending on cost.
  2. Do you have a library full of books or just your favorite tales?
We did in the cottage, having and entire alcove dedicated purely to books.
  3. Harry Potter, Narnia, or Twilight? (You can choose all three or pick and choose.)
    None of these I’m afraid.
  4. Do you like when books are turned into movies? Why or why not?
IMO Movies never do books justice, eg Absolute Power, Aliens, The Abyss, Dances with Wolves. However, if a special edition comes out, sometimes it goes back to the book and really enhances the story.
  5. What is a book that you have read over and over again?
Judith McNaught’s Remember When and Erica James Precious Time.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    I love Judith McNaught!

    • I wasn’t a fan of her period stuff, but liked Paradise, Perfect, Night Whispers, Double Standards, Every Breath you Take and Someone to Watch Over Me. I read Tender Triumph but wasn’t too keen on that. I haven’t seen anything of hers available for years.

      • Paula Light says:

I don’t think she has anything new. At the time, I adored Whitney, My Love, but on a subsequent read, it annoyed me. LOL. Her others are still great, I think…

  2. The closest movie to a book for me is Lord of the Rings. Not as good but as epic.

    • I saw the three movies, but didn’t read the book.
The special editions of Dances with Wolves (almost 4 hours) and The Abyss (over 3 hours) went back to the book and were much better than the original releases IMO

  3. murisopsis says:

Interesting… I agree that most movie adaptations don’t do the books justice.

  4. Carol anne says:

Awesome answers Di! I love books too and I always have one on the go! Xx

I am with you on the cost of books when they are hardbound. It’s hard to get them new without paying an arm and a leg. I never got to read Dances with Wolves, but I did enjoy the movie. The alcove in the cottage sounds awesome! I keep picturing a room with one of those ladders and walls full of books 🙂 Thanks for joining, Di, and rambling about books with me!

    • Sadly our alcove was nothing like that I’m afraid, just a recess by the fireplace. The other side housed my piano. It was custom made though and took all of our books as it was six feet wide and floor to ceiling. We had another in the back corridor of the same dimensions and that contained all our DVDs and videos!
