The ‘Double Take’ challenge focuses on the use of homophones* to build your writing piece. You have two sets of homophones and you are challenged to use all of them in your response – which can be poetry or prose.
Our homophone sets this week are:
clack – chattering sound
claque – group hired to applaud, sycophants
click – ticking noise
clique– exclusive group
The clack of her tongue against the roof of her mouth was louder than the claque of people who attended her talk. The organizers were far from pleased as they were hardly the clique of people they had intended, and the click of her heels as she exited the stage echoed through the hall.
