Blogging Insights – New Format # 24

Dr Tanya hosts the Blogging Insights series every week.
Her quote this week is
You’ve got a new story to write and it looks nothing like your past.”
which she got off Instagram.
She says:
Taken in the context of blogging, in my opinion, it is means that a new idea will help you write in a new way. I don’t agree with the quote since even when you have new ideas your creative expression or writing style remains
the same.IMO, if a new story is a new idea,  why should it look like your past?
We all have our own way of expressing ourselves in print, so although many stories may be on similar lines, the actual writing style is different. The perfect example of this is when we are given a word prompt, first line of a story, or a picture. We see the same thing, but interpret it differently. It’s what makes us unique.

For me personally, I see this in my music. I can play a lot of tunes, and the originals are sometimes nothing like I end up with, because I have my own style and adapt accordingly. Just by slowing the tempo, changing a major chord to minor or vice versa can change the entire tone (excuse pun) of the piece being played. I have notes and melodies going round in my head nearly all the time, and when I can sit at a keyboard and transfer them from my mind to actuality, it’s doubtful they are new ideas, just revamped old ones as the style is the same. It works for me, but it can get boring!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
