I’m going with romance and a song that reduces me to tears every time I hear it.
Norman Wisdom is one of the few who make me smile just thinking about them.
Never exactly your tall, dark, handsome and dashing hero, his mannerisms pull at my heart strings.
“Don’t Laugh At Me (‘Cause I’m A Fool)” was co-written by Norman Wisdom and June Tremayne; they appear to have both contributed to the words and the music. It was performed by the comedian himself in the 1953 film Trouble In Store, which according to the Internet Movie Database was released in the USA on January 12, 1955.
Unsurprisingly, it became Wisdom’s theme song; ‘Cos I’m A Fool is also the title of his autobiography, co-written with Bernard Bale (WIKI)
