Here are Melanie’s Share Your World questions and she says:
2022 Is bearing down on the world. In my opinion 2021 was 100% better than 2020, but it hasn’t been without its own set of problems and fresh worries. I’m hopeful that 2022 will somehow see a return to ‘life before Covid’ , but I also realize that’s a foolish hope.
At 12 a.m. on December 31st/Jan 1st, what will you be doing? (use your own time zone please)
In years past, we used to ring the Mums and Dads at midnight to wish them a Happy New Year. In later years, we would go outside with a drink (usually tea or coffee, once water!) to toast in the New Year, but these days we’re still awake and toast each other.
Is there a tradition you have for New Year’s Eve?
We start the New Year with a clean house. The tree and dekkies are taken down a couple of days before New Year’s Eve and we move all the furniture to hoover behind it, then have all the knicknacks off the shelves to dust. We have a few more this year!
Do you have any hope or reason you find that next year will be better?
We are hopeful and optimistic about finding a new dog. None will ever replace Maggie, but there is a pup out there waiting to find us.
What’s the biggest personal lesson you learned during 2021?
The government are out to kill us all one way or another and we can only rely upon ourselves to keep ourselves safe. We can still be sociable from a distance without causing offense, and our friends are of the same mindset so we look out for each other.
Describe in 1-3 words how you feel going into 2022
Loved, hopeful, optimistic
