The Protector

Sadje has given us this stunning image from Kellepics @ Pixabay to work with this week for her What Do You See challenge

For the visually challenged reader, the image shows a huge stone angel guarding a city within its two wings.
The arms stretched to embrace
But the mortals ran, afraid and terrified.
This Great Being was no threat
But they didn’t understand.
Fear replaced the unknown,
Shattering hope in the process.
None could see this was their Saviour,
Huge wings tried to gather them to it,
To shield them from the onslaught of what was to come
As they headed for self destruction.
Over the centuries, it had reached across cities, worlds,
Its sole purpose to protect and preserve.
But in ignorance Man attacked, seeking only to destroy.
As it fell to the ground, it turned to ash,
The Human Race had sealed its future,
And in Time would become nothing but dust.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oh so sad an end but one that I can believe is possible… Love the way this one unfolds – not unlike the wings.

Great piece even with the sad ending.

Even though, it was sad at the end…It made perfect sense. We often tear down what we don’t want to understand or what we fear. Amazing perception of the image.

Oh, such a tragedy. Thanks Di for joining in with this cautionary tale

  5. Great job, even with the realistic sad ending.

A grim and timely warning of our almost inevitable rush to destruction. Good one, Di.
