Dr Tanya is our host for the Five Things Tuesday.
Today we have workday breakfasts and she says:
Before the pandemic turned the world on its head, breakfast was a hurried meal. Some skipped it altogether while others had it on the go.
When I first started work way back in 1972, breakfast was a cup of tea and that was it. Sometimes Mum would stand at the foot of the stairs with a piece of toast in her hand which I’d grab on the way out because I was late and had a twenty minute walk to work.
For years I didn’t eat breakfast, but various diets and expertise instilled in me the importance of starting the day with something to eat. This also stuck with me
but we are not talking leisurely fry ups here, so my quick food to go choices are as follows:
1. Toast: As offered by Mum LOL, or thrown in the toaster while the kettle’s boiling.
I cannot start my day without my morning cup of tea.
2. Porridge: Two spoonfuls put in a bowl, covered with water, and put in the microwave for two minutes, again while the kettle is boiling.
3. Cereal: usually fruit and fibre or branflakes.
4. Ice cream, preferably Cornettos. What could be quicker than going into a 7/11 on the way to work and raiding the chiller.
5. Bananas. I love bananas, and if you’re in a rush, you can grab one out of the fruit bowl.
Excellent choice, I rather like a crumpet 💜
I like mine oozing butter and syrup, then again I like Danish pastries and all things calorific!
Mee too💜
On the go breakfasts that you can eat in the car used to be my favourite when I was going to work.
When I first started work, I didn’t have breakfast and most days had at least a mile to walk.
