Sunday Ramble: Dreams

E.M. Kingston is our hostess for the Sunday Ramble. You can join in here

This week’s topic is “dreams“.

Here are the questions:

  1. Do you dream when you sleep at night?
  2. Do you wish that dreams were portals to other worlds to explore? Where would the portals go if you wished for them?
  3. If you could talk to anyone in your dreams, who would it be and why?
  4. What is the greatest dream you have ever had? (If you do not dream, share something great that has happened in your life.)
  5. Do you believe that dreams have a purpose?

These are my responses:

  1. Do you dream when you sleep at night?
The experts say we all dream, but can’t remember most of them. Some of my dreams have given me ideas for poetry, short stories or a blogging post!
  2. Do you wish that dreams were portals to other worlds to explore? Where would the portals go if you wished for them?
Who is to say they’re not? In dreams we might believe we have super powers, can see things of wonder, and find peace in a world that is not money and greed driven.
  3. If you could talk to anyone in your dreams, who would it be and why?
My parents. I would tell them how much I love them, how much I miss them, and how sorry I am for taking them so much for granted.
  4. What is the greatest dream you have ever had? (If you do not dream, share something great that has happened in your life.)
My parents have come to me in my dreams, as has Maggie. Whilst I awoke with tears in my eyes, they were good dreams of those I love .
  5. Do you believe that dreams have a purpose?
Yes, I believe some of them do.
I should have heeded one in 1977 and not married my first husband!
My dreaming of toilets proves I am under stress or need to address some problems.
Dreams are also a comfort and I had one about my Mum shortly after she died.
We were changing her bed linens and I commented that her sheets were thin and she should replace them. I see her now, standing at the side of the bed saying
‘I don’t think that really matters now Di.’
It made me laugh because that would have been so typical of her.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Hey Di! I adore these responses to the Ramble along with the pictures of you and Mum! Thank you for sharing her with us. I know how much she means to you after our conversations. It’s awesome that your dreams inspire your writing. I had that happen with my story about Sebastian. It’s always nice to get to know you better! Finding peace in dreams sounds amazing! Wonderful responses! I really enjoyed reading your dream rambles! Have a great day, Di *smiles*

I agree, dreams can be quite powerful and can bring comfort when we need it.

  4. What a poignant share! I’ve had some of my four foots visit me too, but usually I’m having to chase them because I’m frightened they’ll be hurt or scared somehow. A deeper meaning there I’m sure! Your dreams are lovely, and how beautiful that you got to see and speak with your mother ‘one last time’. Blessings! 🤗

Lovely pictures of you with your mum.

  6. I have had glorious dreams where I am on a large farm and all my dogs that have crossed the rainbow bridge come and play with me. It makes me happy and sad at the same time.
