5 ‘Sunday’ Breakfasts

Dr Tanya is asking us for our five favourite Sunday breakfasts.
You can join in here

She says:
What is better than staying in bed on Sunday morning? A fancy breakfast of course. While many of us are in a rush on weekday mornings, Sunday is when there is time and inclination for long leisurely breakfasts or brunches
As we are both retired, we can stay in bed every morning should we so wish, though Hubby is an early riser. Breakfast is usually a matter of cereal or porridge, though we may also have toast and yogurt.
However!!
Sometimes we will have something different, or if we have had an early start for an appointment, then breakfast stretches to brunch and anything goes, whatever day of the week.

IMO you cannot beat the full English Fry Up.

Many supermarket cafes do an all day cooked breakfast in a variety of sizes and you can vary your eggs from fried, poached or scrambled.

Sounds daft, but how about ice cream?
When we were on the road, most cafes weren’t open first thing in the morning but 7 to 11s were and they all stocked ice cream, so having one for breakfast was not unusual.

Going to the other extreme when we were on a camping holiday in Devon and Cornwall, we found the perfect pasty shop and were there at 6am when the first batch came out of the oven. Set us up for the day, especially as we followed it with a fresh cream meringue, kiwi, blueberries and strawberries!

Perhaps a more sensible breakfast would be omelette (my picture)
Sometimes though, something light is more preferable, in which case melon fits the bill (my pictures).

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
