Jim Adams is our host for the Song Lyric Sunday
This week the theme is songs that are about School, College, Education, Class, Degree which was also suggested by Paula of Light Motifs II who provided our theme last week. Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Alice Cooper’s School’s Out are bound to be favourites, so I’m going a little off the wall with teachers:
My first choice is from 1967 and Lulu’s To Sir With Love from the movie of the same name. Lyrics are in the clip
Writer(s):Don Black (lyrics), Mark London (music), Mike Leander (arranger)
In contrast in style, my second choice is “Teacher’s Pet”, a popular song written by Joe Lubin and published in 1958. The song was introduced in the film of the same name by Doris Day in the same year.
Again the lyrics are in the clip

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
Lovely choices Di. Lulu had a record deal at the age of 15 and I think that she is still performing. I didn’t remember this Doris Day song, but I love everything that she sings.
I chose this too! 🎶😍
Great minds Paula!
I would have chosen The Police – Don’t Stand So Close To Me….
I think someone did Val

I always liked Doris Day movies. Clark Gable was her co-star in this one. Haven’t heard much from Lulu since she paired up with Take That in 1993
To Sir With Love is one of my favorite movies and songs! 🙂
Glad you like it Barbara.
Both good choices!
Thanks!
Oh I just love Lulu’s voice on this song. Beautiful choice Di ☺️💕
Thanks Christine.
Turns out “To Sir With Love” was the popular tune. Fine by me…
Thanks John.
