MLMM Wordle #267

Many thanks to Lisa for setting this weeks wordle challenge. You can join in here

Our words this week:
stroke, redundant, scared, settle, compete, squirrel, fit, pedal, complain, awesome, sad, pies.

She would not settle, knew there was a ptarmigan or pheasant to chase. She was scared of nothing, the woods being an awesome place to explore, her nose to the ground as each smell battled to compete with her senses. She was a young and fit pup then, always on the go, taking no notice of us humans complaining of aching joints and breathlessness.
She never strayed far, we were never redundant in her world and she would return to us on her own, roll over on her back for a tummy rub, her back leg pedaling the air as we found that ‘itchy bit’.
She rolled a pigeon once, and flipped a young rabbit kitten, all in play, never aggressive, just fun. A squirrel stood its ground and nipped her on the nose. How it bled but she was OK. We cleaned it and stroked her head telling her she was a good girl.
She never went on the pest control runs, but had her fair share of the rabbit pies I cooked.
Sadly she is no longer with us, but we have so many wonderful memories of happy days.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

That is such a beautiful tribute to your Maggie. The words just fit so perfectly.

I truly hope this is a true reminiscence! What fun for Maggie and such precious memories for you!!

    • It was Val. She would not be happy until she’d lifted the game birds, then would just stand and watch them fly away as if to say ‘Told you they were there!’. The rabbit was so funny as she found it in the undergrowth and put her nose under it. The pigeon was very surprised and there were feathers everywhere, but the squirrel did catch her nose. She loved the woods.
