Shopping – Image by KL Caley
For the visually impaired reader, the photo shows a supermarket aisle from a customer’s point of view as they push an empty trolley.
The car park was full, but the shop was not so she was relieved. At least she could browse and not have to worry about crowds, social distancing and ignorant customers shoving her out of the way as they reached for bargains, discounted items, or everything else that she just happened to be standing in front of. Why did it always seem to work out that way? Women would gather and chat where she wanted to look, then give her a disdaining look if she asked them politely to give her access to that particular shelf.
Not so today, it seemed she had the entire store to herself, and although it might creep some people out like something out of The Twilight Zone, she intended to make the most of it!
She picked up a few things and put them in her trolley, but when she selected a bottle of perfume which was on special offer, alarm bells suddenly started to ring and she was grateful she didn’t drop it to smash on the floor.
Suddenly she was surrounded by frantic shoppers all piling things willy-nilly into their trolleys and she was lucky not to be mowed down in the frenzy. She stood back terrified just wanting to leave everything where it was and do a runner.
She then found herself being escorted to the manager’s office, loudly protesting her innocence, where it was explained that they were doing a TV programme called Supermarket Dash and she had just spoilt their third take of the day.
Very clever story Di
