Our words were:

In his prime, his band were in the limelight so it was not unusual for a fan to try and sneak backstage and occasionally one got through.
Theirs had been a fast relationship lasting nine days, and his mates would often tease him about his liking for young sugar. Always one to play the field, he was surprised how hollow he felt when they moved on but she had not cried foul or tried to make him jump through hoops to satisfy her dreams.
There had been no contact afterwards, and living rough on the road most the time, the band had never returned to her town.
He was never one to shirk his responsibility, so it had come as a bit of a shock to learn he had a nineteen year old daughter.
Pasting a smile on his face, he waited for her to settle in the chair in front of him.
He noticed the friendship ring she was wearing, remembering the day he gave it to her mother..
She wanted nothing, she said, but felt he ought to know her mother had died recently and she had finally found out who her father was, so wanted to meet him.
Her words left a sour taste in his mouth when he realised he had been too hasty to judge her. He saw her mother in her face, and was transported back twenty years.
