Today is Tuesday 19th October

And the weather today is ……………… wet .
It’s been raining since about 4am and when Hubby checked The Box this morning, it’s looking good and the paint is doing its job.

Not much on our agenda today, but I’ve prepared a three day stew so as to take the pressure off meals for the next few days.  Hubby has cancelled his dental appointment tomorrow morning as being in the opposite direction to the hospital for the afternoon, it would mean a round trip of over 100 miles. This is not good for him as he has had to stop taking his warfarin which protects him against DVTs. When we went to Mum’s funeral in 2018 we ended up at A&E as he was in so much pain. He was diagnosed as having a DVT even though he was on warfarin, and this was down to hours traveling in the car to get there.
We have noticed a decline in our mileage and believe it to be because of where we’ve purchased our last two top ups of fuel. It is quite a significant drop, from 60 mpg to 49 so we are now planning to let our tank dip below half and then fill up from our usual garage.
It has already been reported that the new E10 fuel for petrol cars is affecting performance and mileage, one driver saying he has to fill up twice as often. Fuel prices at the pumps for both unleaded and diesel fuels are rocketing, so this does give clout to people opting for electric vehicles. As yet,  the infrastructure for remote areas is not in place, and for those unable to park on a drive to ‘plug in’, it is not a viable option for many. For us, and the distances we have to travel from where we live for GPs, dentist, hospitals and shopping (which although on the coast is a forgotten land when it comes to investment), an EV is not an option, so we are glad to both drive and be able to afford to run a car.
As time progresses that of course may all change.

As always, take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Hope the fuel prices stay low enough to be affordable and the availability remains high enough to be able to fill the tank!
