This week:
” A non writing writer is a monster courting insanity.” — Franz Kafka

At first this quote seemed a bit of an exaggeration. Upon reflection, and particularly on reading that almost every blogger says some time or the other that blogging is a saver of their sanity, I became convinced.

All bloggers, except maybe those who just post images, are writers. Kafka’s quote therefore applies to us. We are all agreed that blogging is good for our mental health. If we don’t write / blog for extended periods of time, we might not turn into Monsters but our levels of stress and anxiety would definitely increase.
Blogging has always been an outlet for my thoughts, ramblings and musings. As to whether I’d go insane if I didn’t do it is questionable.

I enjoy writing, be it poems, short stories, or general chit chat, and of course I read other bloggers and post comments there too. The feedback is terrific, and conversations bounce back and forth, sometimes giving rise to further ideas for posts.
Before blogging, I wrote letters, mainly to my Mum, and missed doing so when she passed away in 2018. I now write letters once a month to friends made both on and off the water.

However, to say that blogging is a saver of sanity probably does have some degree of truth in it as I remember having a Moan Book as a teenager. I would write down all my worries or grievances, then read them the following day when I wasn’t so angry or emotional.  Most entries were laughable so it was with great pleasure I ripped out the pages and destroyed them. I suppose writing it all down got it out of my system and was the beginning of my becoming good at self analysis.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
