Today is Tuesday 12th October

It is almost 6.30pm and I have just accessed my blog after a long and frustrating day.

The good news is that Hubby’s hospital appointment went very well and he is being fast tracked for a CT scan and other tests to find out exactly what is going on. Finally, someone is doing something. Thank you new surgery.

The water man didn’t come yesterday so we followed it up with an email on the website.
I had a phone call this afternoon to reschedule and she said they needed access to the house. I asked why as the meter and its housing were outside and it was the catch on the box that was faulty. She said she’d call me back. Our new date is the 27th, and I have an appointment with the Breast Cancer History dept that day, but the meter is accessible from the drive, and as a safeguard, I shall put a big sticker on it!!
I despair sometimes, I really do.

Trying to source a housing unit for a built in cooker is now proving difficult. All of the DIY branches where they are priced at £31 don’t have any……… AT ALL and deliveries can’t be promised. It’s the shed scenario all over again.
Hubby did a lot of research last night on cookers and hobs and came up with a Zanussi alternative combo. After his appointment today, we went to our appliance shop of choice and although the gas hob can be ordered, the cooker is discontinued. The alternative, which we had already looked at on line, is too deep for the housing as we have a gas pipe at the back that would get in the way. There was another that would fit, and the price was reasonable, plus it was a familiar make. We took the details and once home, Hubby did some more digging. It doesn’t have a very good write up, and only comes with one shelf. Not happy about that at all. Everything revolves around getting a housing unit anyway, so at the moment things are on hold, which is annoying.

Rather than suffer the same problems as yesterday because we ate late, we had a snack out and our second portion of stew this afternoon.
It will be the same tomorrow as Hubby has his Xray dentist appointment, so we shall be busy looking at hobs, cookers and trying to find a housing that doesn’t cost the earth.
The same thing is available at another DIY outlet for………….wait for it……………… £179.
The second word to that is OFF!

Hope you’ve had a good day though. Keep safe.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Oh dear! Is hubby having more issues with his stomach? I hope they find the cause. As for the cooker, nothing is easy, is it?

I am so glad that at last something is being done for your hubby’s stomach problem Di. That is such a rotten thing to have.

I’m glad the health issues are on their way to resolution! The stove/oven problem seems to be a little more difficult. Does the new surgery dabble in ironing out more domestic problems? (thinking they might know someone to refer you to for finding a new housing…??)
