KL Caley is our hostess for the Thursday Writephoto challenge, and this week our picture is supplied by Geoff Le Pard.

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a green man (with the traditional leaves for his hair) emerging from a bricked up tunnel.
The Wraith had no concept of time, then or now, just darkness.
He had emerged, temporarily blinded, into a world totally unfamiliar and shook his head in disbelief.
Things had changed.
Shadowed skeletal structures greeted him.
The words on the wall of his tomb were meaningless.
Bones of both animal and human origin lay bleached on the cold barren landscape.
The sky was an angry grey, the wind kicking tumbleweed aimlessly to nowhere, the light provided by a watery sun as if sheltered behind a pool of tears.
He had sworn he would return to exact his revenge but something had beaten him to it.
There was nothing.
Man had expired himself.
He turned tail and retreated back into his prison, which was now his sanctuary.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    A dark story Di.

  3. Seems he wasn’t the only one seeking revenge. RIP.

  4. I loved this! It was so fitting, dark and eerie! I loved that “the words on the wall were meaningless”. For whatever reason that really drew me in.
