It is ten past five in the afternoon and I have just accessed my blog, so my apologies for the delay in responding to comments and approving pingbacks. I’ll get on that as soon as I’ve published this.
It has been quite a day as we were up early for Hubby’s INR blood test which was the first of the day at 8.30. Allowing for the school run, we left home in plenty of time as we have further to travel now and arrived half an hour before the appointed time! Had we left home any later, we would have caught a lot more traffic, and may possibly have been late.
Good news, he is back in range and the next test isn’t for two weeks. Hurrah!!
Following on from the carnival on Saturday (so glad you enjoyed the pictures), we took a Covid test to play safe and are both in the clear. We went into the chemist today to get some more home kits which currently are free but will attract a fee (possibly the prescription charge of £9.35 per item though that has not been confirmed) by the end of the year.
From there, we decided to do a mini shop, mindful of the media being full of potential food shortages in the shops due to no CO2 production, a shortage of HGV drivers., and no-one to pick the produce from the fields. We didn’t spend a lot or stockpile, just topped up our meat drawer in the freezer and bought our monthly supply of UHT milk. We have noticed that is already in short supply and our local supermarket shelves have been empty.
We split our shop into three stores and should not have to buy anything other than bread, fruit or veg (no tomatoes LOL) for the next fortnight at least.
The headlines are also full of the gas and energy supply crisis, which is a worry as we approach Winter. I am so glad I got a fixed tariff sorted out last month which comes into effect on October 1st. Our D/D has been confirmed at the new price so we can ‘rest easy’ for two years.
We were home by midday and put some washing on as the weather was glorious, but got chatting with neighbours and so lunch was late. Today Hubby had lasagna and I had a tomato and mushroom pasta.
I had accounts to sort out and had some emails to attend to, so we’ve had a busy day!!
Looks like the Co2 problem has been sorted for now , government pay off….where is all this bailout money coming from?💜
I wonder Willow. Haven’t heard any headlines since this morning when we were in the car. All money, money, money.
Yes and there’s no such thing as a bottomless pit ! 💜
We have had trouble getting peaches and good looking bananas. And sardines of all things! Usually no one is touching the little fishes but the shelves are bare again. Glad to hear that you are fully stocked.
Strawberries today were all mashed on the bottom and running in juice. Bananas were black, though we did manage to get some in the Co-op which aren’t too bad.
You have an amazing attitude, given the rather grim news over your way! Foresight in planning certainly serves you well! I’m glad you were able to get all that you needed on your round and good news on the medical front too apparently! Lovely! Have a great day!
Thanks Melanie. Keep safe.
