Today is Friday, 17th September

It is a beautiful day here on the Lincolnshire coast.

Not much is going on here to be honest. Our local gardener is doing his rounds and cutting the lawns on our side of the road this week. Next week, he’ll do the other. He is very popular with our elderly or widowed residents, and his rates reasonable.

Hubby had to do a repair to the bathroom ceiling yesterday as the paint and plaster had cracked. He removed the flaky paint, then we walked up to town where we bought some ready made filler for 99p and a scraper to apply it for £2.49. We thought we’d check out the local market, but were met with a wall of unmasked people when we turned the corner, so simply turned round and walked home.
It’s about a mile each way, so Hubby was pretty shattered and had a rest while I got lunch. He did the job in the afternoon, and the filler, although cheap, was damn good quality. It dried the same colour as the ceiling so we were in two minds whether to paint it. In order to seal the job though, Hubby gave it a coat of paint and it has dried a treat. Best to do a little crack before it becomes a major job issue.

No plans on the agenda today. Lunch is the second portion of cottage pie for Hubby and I am really going to push the boat out and have beans on toast with a fried egg on the top! This was actually a favourite meal for us both in the cottage and on the boat as it was quick, easy and filling.  Added bonus is that it’s a free meal with bread as my B option and eggs and baked beans are free. I don’t use oil and ‘dry fry’.

Have a good day everyone. Take care, and keep safe.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Hehe! The beans on toast – must be a UK thing as I have never heard anyone suggest that here (except maybe a hobo meal). Glad your bathroom ceiling fix was a success!
