It’s Friday!
Welcome to my Take Seven compilation which incorporates all 21 words (or derivatives) from the Three Things Challenge for the past week.
You are most welcome to join in using as many or all of the words too. Just pingback to this post and then leave a link to your post in the comments so that I can see it and respond directly.
As always, have fun, and I hope you enjoy this week’s effort which is about a shopping trip.
Our words were:
abundance, apply, ask, brush, car, frayed, gloss, head, lovely, market, own, people, perfect, question, remember, safer, sell, store, tangled, town, traffic.
It’s was a lovely day so walking into town rather than taking the car seemed like a good idea.
People. Hundreds of people, nobody giving an inch, and it was safer to walk in the road.
Luckily, traffic was light for a weekday, but it was still a question of human dodgems, avoiding mobility scooters and not getting tangled up in dog leads.
Tempers were becoming frayed, including my own, though I believed it would not take me long to find what I wanted and head for home!
I could not have been more wrong.
Something so simple, so easily available and in abundance was now like hen’s teeth. What was I after?
A makeup brush.
Years ago, you could buy sets of about 6 brushes to apply various things from shadow to blusher mascara, face powder and lip gloss.
Do you think I could find any?
That would be a no.
I tried three discount shops that sell makeup and two chemists. Nothing.
In the end, I went into an indoor market where they sold souvenirs and gifts, and after asking, was shown to a little basket with about 10 packs of makeup brushes, not how I remember, but makeup brushes nonetheless, for £1.50.
I then decided to try one other store and they had similar kits for £1, so I bought one of those as well.
You might remember me saying in the past that I don’t wear makeup and haven’t for years. So why would I need a makeup brush I hear you ask.
Easy. It is the perfect shape for Hubby to paint his model boat!
Haha. That’s a clever use of makeup brushes!!!
It gave a perfect finish too! After that day, wherever we went, that was all I saw, packs of makeup brushes as I remembered! Seems locally they are hens teeth!
I bought some for glazing my ceramic pieces! They do work well but I still like Japanese calligraphy brushes better but they cost so much! I’ll make do with the makeup set!
Hubby is always inventive…….. that’s why I’ve lost so many kitchen knives!
Tha’ts an Interesting use of a brush . I was forced to cheat to find out what a dodgem is. We have them here to as bumper cars
yep that’s the ones. people are forever in our way and won’t give us an inch.
Who would have thought… 🙂
He’s very good at improvising……. I lose a lot of kitchen utensils to kitchenitispilferous.
Ah! I thought it might be for your card making 💜
Nope………… Hubby’s project!!
Yes I see that now 🤣
hehe. It gave a fantastic finish too.
Excellent 💜
