The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 11, 2021

Linda’s prompt:
Friday’s here and so am I with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. What a day for a SoCS post, eh? Twenty years ago the world was in shock. As always, my prompt will allow you to choose what to write. But I have a feeling the subject of many posts will be the same. Here’s your prompt for this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “where.” Use it any way you’d like!

Years ago, the question was
‘Where were you when Kennedy was shot?’ or
‘Where were you when Elvis died?’
Now one cannot help but recall where we were when 9/11 happened.

I was working for an American Bank on this day in 2001. My redundancy was already confirmed to take place towards the end of the month, but this came as a shock to everyone worldwide. Stunned doesn’t begin to cover it.
The Company pulled together, different operation centres taking up the slack despite the time differences, and staff working 16 to 20 hour shifts. The best of our computer support team were sent to the USA and helped get things up and running.

Now twenty years on, it is again headline news.
Loved ones were lost, lives shattered, the world as we knew it was never the same.
Broken families remember that day, and every single day that has followed since.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    A somber day of remembrance.

  4. Never to be forgotten. It’s interesting that neither of the finalists in the American Open in New York later today weren’t even born then.

    Beautiful. 💛💛
