It has been a really productive morning as we decided to have a field trip to go looking for a glue gun for my card making kit.
We found several ranging in price from £4 to £10, but none were as I remembered from years ago when I first started. Anyway, we settled for one of the cheaper ones along with 12 glue sticks, so I mean business and Mr Leprechaun and his dazzly bits are in for a stick up.
We did some banking business and on the way back to the car I went into a veg shop for a carrot to go with dinner today. The shop was expensive as the carrot and 3 bananas set me back £1.14, but nothing was chilled or had been frozen so the quality was good. This is more than I could say for the chilly reception of the woman who served me who had been weighing out bird seed which was obviously more important.
As time was pressing on, we treated ourselves to coffee and a flapjack to tide us over to lunch. That has been synned and I am well within my parameters for the day.
Hubby decided to buy a sander to do the boat so we went into a tool specialist who wanted £20, then a discount DIY store who wanted £30! We looped back into town and parked up by the butchers. Hubby walked down to Argos and I stayed in the car. The shop alongside me was an arts studio and they had some fabulous portraits of celebrities at reasonable priced. The one of George Michael was excellent, though I was never a fan. However, it was also a craft shop so I went in as she had some card making materials!
I had a lovely chat with the owner and her colleague, and came away with some Christmas decoupage kits which weren’t too expensive.
Hubby came back with his sander which had cost £15 so we definitely had a good morning.
Lunch today was cottage pie with above mentioned carrot, green beans, and the last of our cauliflower. There’s enough leftover veg to mix with mashed potatoes for bubble and squeak tomorrow which we’ll have with spam. That tin of spam will last us two or three days, so it’s a rollover week as regards meals which will take all the guesswork out of it!
How’s your day going?
I love wandering around craft stores! Sounds like a great day 🙂
This was quite charming, especially as she supplies the basic stuff because a lot of her customers are elderly so the fancy things aren’t so popular. Suits me!
That is wonderful that you found another craft store with card making materials!! My day has gone well – I just have to clean up the dishes and then it is all “me” time!
This is a nice little shop as she deals with basic rather than gadgets. Now I know she’s there, I have somewhere else to buy things from without having to rely on one outlet that is over 30 miles away!
