Today is Friday 27th August

Last Friday in August, a bank holiday weekend and September starts on Wednesday.
Where does the time go?
Today is D-Day…….. as in dentist. The Deep Clean looms.
I am not happy.

Hubby had his Deep Clean on Tuesday, and it hurt. His gums bled for some considerable while afterwards (he’s on warfarin so not surprising) and his mouth was sore.
I had the courtesy call from the dentist yesterday just to confirm my appointment and check I’d had no Covid symptoms. They give you every opportunity to cancel if there’s a problem. I told her I was not looking forward to it as I understood it hurt and hoped the dentist could numb my gums before she started. Apparently all I have to do is ask. I wonder if she could actually knock me out ????

We are going in early as I need to go to the bank, so as I am not doing dinner today, have suggested Hubby get himself a savoury slice and a cup of tea from the baker to have in the car. He can also treat himself to a vanilla slice for dessert as I won’t be having any.

Will Power has been sitting on my shoulder these past couple of weeks and apart from Wednesday when I badly needed a sugar boost and opened up a packet of liquorice rock candy (Mr Power needed a day off) I have been really attentive to my food intake. Half of the cheesecake I made this week was given away and I synned my portions over three days. The scales are currently being kind, so I hope they remain that way for Sunday!

Hope your day is off to a good start.
Keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I hope your dentist appointment is/was not as bad as anticipated – though I totally understand.

My hygienist is very gentle… I’m wondering what the “deep clean” entails as I’ve never hear of a difference between a “deep” and “regular” cleaning here… Hope you get pain free service!

    • Not totally pain free Val even with the numbing gel, but it’s done. The ‘deep clean’ was dremel and chisel by the feel of it. I could argue that if they did the basic descale and polish every check up as they’re supposed too, deep cleans wouldn’t be necessary. Guess they have to bleed their patients somehow.

  5. Unless your teeth are in bad condition, a cleaning shouldn’t hurt. It’s annoying while they do it but bleeding and pain afterward is concerning. Good luck with it. You might need something soft to treat yourself afterward.

    • Teeth themselves aren’t too bad, I just have sensitive and receding gums, as does Hubby and he’s on blood thinners which is why he tends to bleed more than normal. I had my fair share today and a couple of ‘ows’ despite the numbing gel. All done though and next appointment is February for a check up.

  6. I hate the cleanings too. I have tightly spaced teeth, even though several of them are now crowns or caps. So getting floss in there is a challenge, and having the hygienist do it is painful. But that amount of bleeding and pain? To me you unfortunately have yourself a ham-fisted hygienist it seems. The good hygienist will cause a certain amount of pain and for some of us gum bleeding, but not like that. I hope she gives you a good dose of laughing gas and it takes the edge off. Because apparently her touch is not light. 😦

    • It wasn’t as bad as the hygienist all those years ago, but I did go ow a couple of times, even with the numbing gel. I bled a fair bit too, but my gums are so sensitive and receding too so that doesn’t help. All done though and next appointment is in February. Hubby is on blood thinners so any little cut will bleed more than normal.
