Tale Weaver 19.08.21 – I’m the Sidekick

Stephanie Colpron is our new hostess for the Tale Weaver challenges and she is really giving us food for thought!
This week:

One of your (or your character’s) siblings, kids, your (their) best friend if that works best for you turns out to be magical.

They could be a magical creature – a fae, a creature from the mythology… – or a wizard/witch, or a priestess of an old religion with access to nature’s power… throwing examples out there but I know your imagination can reach further…

A few weeks back I was inviting you to write from the villain’s perspective, this time I’m wondering what your tale as the sidekick would be like? Not necessarily the sidekick’s origin story (as in, how do they react when they find out?) but rather the daily life/struggles/victories of the hero’s sidekick if it makes sense.

One often forgets that each person is the hero of their own story, of their own tale. So what would the sidekick’s tale read like, in your imagination?

Photo : Hinge and Bracket, one of my favourite double acts.

I’m sort of going to turn this on its head and refer back to an earlier post about double acts.
Hubby and I are a double act, but as to one of us having magical powers, well that is up to people who know us. All I know is he is my hero and super Spider Catcher, he has the patience of a saint as far as I’m concerned, he looks after me, and loves me to pieces.
Does the gift of caring count as a magical power?
He says I have a way with people (and dogs) that is wonderful to watch as they respond to me and I always leave them smiling. He says he can see their spirits lift as we’re chatting, or when someone is talking to him about me.
He tells me that he knew there was something special about me the first night we met, and that makes me blush actually because I was just being myself. If there is any magic in my being, it has to be because he’s brought out the best in me since we met in May 1989.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
