Linda Hill is our host for the Stream of Consciousness Saturday (on Fridays).
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “luck.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!
It was just his luck to land face down in a puddle. The brats had been arguing and he suddenly found himself airborne, the family vehicle racing off down the road leaving him to fate.
He was getting wet, and that would not do his insides any good at all, but to be honest there wasn’t much he could do. Other cars sped by, missing him by inches, then one stopped and reversed, opened the door, and lifted him into warmth and comfort.
All right!!! he thought. No screamers in the back, gentle fingers, maybe this was his lucky day after all.
Or not.
He hurt, though they tried to be kind. His innards were removed and as he sat lopsided and empty on the bench, he watched his inner self being rotated back and forth, round and round. He felt dizzy.
Somewhere along the line he’d lost an eye, and his nose was bent, so sniffing was out of the question, it was too painful.
It took an hour.
He was given a new eye and could see brilliantly, repacked and gently stitched, with a new nose too, then put on the shelf with a variety of others of all shapes and sizes.
The Old Guy took charge.
‘I’m Grandad,’ he said. ‘Looks like you’ve been through the wars lad, but they’ve fixed you up a treat. What’s your name?’
He blushed.
‘I don’t have one.’
‘Oh that won’t do. We’ll call you Lucky. Welcome to the Hug.’
This was our collection of bears before we bought the boat. Sadly most of them, including Lucky, were donated to charity and hopefully have found loving children to watch over.
Great story Di
Thanks. I wrote a fair few from a Bear’s point of view!
You’re welcome ☺️
I loved it! I had no idea what it or he/she was.
Excellent write!
Thanks Jen. Happy memories of that day and I felt like Indiana Jones scooping him up.
😊👍
Oh really? It was you?
We collected teddy bears and saw this one face down in a puddle. We couldn’t leave him there so brought him home, dried him out, got a new eye and nose from the toy hospital, and he joined the ranks.
WTG! Perfect! 💜
😀
😊
Awe! that story was adorable Di! I enjoyed it immensely! ❤

Oh. I loved the reveal at the end. Never thought it was a teddy.. I’m glad that you saved him. And that was a lovely collection of teddies.
It was and they all had a story to tell. I wish we’d kept a few more than we did. I wrote a story on that too
