One of those days……………..

The day started off OK, up early, breakfast, washing done, off for blood test.

Hubby is still out of range, and they have decided to give him a full MOT with blood tests, BP checks, the works on Monday to make sure nothing sinister is going on.
It would appear that his medical notes have vanished. That is apparently being taken up with the software company as surgery past and present are on the same system. Great.

Shopping:
OK, I bought fruit…………. and salad. I have to eat something, and the reward of the small bar of chocolate I was saving for myself has been eaten by someone I won’t mention. I’m not buying any more. Our neighbour came with us today so we’ve had a good blitz on grocery shopping for the next week.

We also got a new black ink cartridge for the printer. Now this was interesting as apparently it has to be ordered in, and online cost £25.49. We tried an alternative source, and delivery wouldn’t be until next week, not that we need it now, but we left it anyway.
Walking back from the bank, we decided to go into the shop on the off chance. Oh my.
They not only had it in stock, BUT it was £3 cheaper. Profiteering online in my opinion.

Lunch was a lasagna for Hubby, not his preferred variety which they do not seem to be doing anymore and the alternative is dearer and not so filling. I had tomato and yellow bean pasta bake which was delicious.  It was a late meal, so I had a bowl of granola with some strawberries and dried apricots for my final meal tonight. Very low syn day today, so I could easily have had my chocolate 😦

I settled down this afternoon to blog and saw Kela’s owner walking down the road without her. She did not look well, so I went out to ask if she was OK. She said not really, but was on her way to a friend’s house to celebrate her birthday, so I walked with her to make sure she arrived OK. I would happily have walked back to accompany her home.
Then we ended up fixing our neighbour’s fence as some nails had come loose and she was anxious about it. That took well over an hour and a half as the wood was rotten and Hubby had a major repair to do rather than a five minute job. When finished, he was knackered.

Kela’s owner came up the drive on her way back and asked if we could do her a favour by walking the dog this evening as she just didn’t feel up to it. No problem for me, so I walked her home and said I’d come and get the dog around 7 pm.
Hubby insisted on coming too but was not doing very well and flagging about 1/3 of the way round. I got Kela home by 7.35 and her owner was looking and feeling much better. Our phone is on 24/7 so if she feels unwell, I’ve said to ring us.

My blog has had a couple of posts today, but not the one I intended.
Ho hum. I got my new meds for cholesterol today and have taken the first one tonight.
It will be six months before I know if they’re doing anything.
Will do my post tomorrow now as it was something I got my teeth into regarding this latest health tilt.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Someone eating chocolate that you’d been saving is unforgivable! My dad did that once to me when I was a child and I’ve never forgotten it 😂

    • I should have had my half of the duo pack when he had his, but I was ‘trying to be good’ having oversynned on the SW diet. Never mind. He was saving me from myself, but next time, I’ll hide it in another drawer!!

  2. So wonderful how your neighborhood takes care of each other.

Top day that Di, despite the chocolate. I love your little community, imagining these characters – the neighbours, the dog owner and of course the chocolate their!

    • Normally I wouldn’t mind, but I had been rather looking forward to it which is why I’d bought the dual bar pack so that we could have one each. I didn’t have my bar the day he opened it because I had over synned, and now I’ve lost my chance!! Never mind.
We do have a lovely community here.

  5. Yes, I have a bag full of bones to pick about the medical profession. Sick to my back teeth with all of them!

sounds like an all round great day Di!
Glad you got to help your neighbour out by walking Kela! Bet you enjoyed that! Xx
