Today is Sunday 8th August

Hello and good morning.
It’s another warm and humid day on the East coast though we do have rain forecast for sometime later today.

We had fireworks at 10pm last night which we had been expecting at 9pm. This is the ‘Summer treat’ for visitors, and lasts for about 10 minutes, always finishing with a pop-pop-popopopop so residents know it’s over!
Hubby had another interrupted night but did manage to get some sleep, though ended up in the lounge. I was restless, too hot, cramp in my legs and feet, then I got too cold and needed a wee! Old age sucks. I still couldn’t settle so got the suduku book out and was doing those until 4.30. I slept until 6, then went back to sleep until around 8.30.
We both had showers, which is just as well as our water pressure has dropped off again so I’ve raised a job with the water board. They had been working in the area but work was completed at 10am, so this is something new. Our neighbours have low pressure too, so it’s a local issue, not us. There is a lot of repair work going on here but the water board is usually very good and on it in a couple of hours, if not immediately in the case of water leaks. I’ve got a job number in case there’s any change and someone should be with us within 24 hours.
Picture: with Kela in July, just how we like it!

We’ve been out for a walk along the prom and it wasn’t too busy. I guess this was because it was cloudy and bit breezy, though there were some brave souls up to their knees in the water. It was very pleasant as we could keep our distance from everyone and didn’t have to rush which was good as Hubby appears to have twisted his knee in his sleep again.

It’s been a positive day though as I’ve lost 2 lbs! Don’t ask me how as I know it’s nothing to do with the naughty cakes we had last week, and I did read the scales right. Hopefully I can keep on track now as things had gone a little ‘south’.
Breakfast was a slice of melon with some cinnamon, and lunch today is a spaghetti bolognese which I shall begin making shortly.
The blood pressure was also good at 128 over 76.

Hope all is well with you all. Keep safe and take care.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. It sounds all good, Di. I hope your water pressure issue is resolved.

  2. Lucky you! They came here to work on the water pipes (again), as the patch they put in early in the summer had failed and there was water gushing out the drain in the road. My water pressure remains really sketchy, but of course when I tried to show the workman what I meant, it worked great. *sigh*. It sounds beautiful over your way! Here it’s hot, hot and hot. There’s been a couple of days of overcast and threatened rain, but we get a few sprinkles, it gets really muggy (which is worse than hot to me) and then it’s sunny again. I’ll be crabbin’ in a few months about the endless cold though, so I guess I ought to appreciate what I got while I got it, hmm? I hope your hubby’s sore knee feels better soon! Congratulations on your weight loss too! 🙂
