I got some pretty good pictures of the greylag family today.
There are four goslings, 2 white and 2 grey, but they are all different.
As I was chatting to the geese (as I always do) snapping away with the canon, they were quite content to let me get quite close, and the one white gosling broke ranks and came up to my feet. The adults didn’t bat an eye, and just carried on pecking at the grass with the others.
As we turned away to come home, they went into the water and I got two shots of them on the lake.
Here are my pictures which I hope you enjoy.
Family gathering
You looking at us?
Where do you think you’re going?
Left: Inches from my feet . Right : family not bothered of my presence.
Into the water and safety from that black furry thing!
I cropped this from the top picture as the mannerisms of the white gosling so mirrored that of the greylag.
Great photos!
Thanks. The white one was literally inches from my foot, but neither adult hissed at me so obviously didn’t think the little one was threatened.
Yes, exactly. They know. If only humans’ instincts were as good.
It’s great to be able to get this close.
Lovely pictures!
Thank you!
🥰
I’m glad that the adults let you get close! Great pics, Di
Me too. I could use the zoom and do for the water shots, but I feel very privileged when they come up so close.
Yes. It must make feel so special indeed!
Maybe I was a goose in a former life as well!
Haha. I guess we’ll never know!
awww! Sweet! You are so lucky to see the goslings! xoxo
There are just two broods left here now, and they are just getting their flight feathers so will be off in a few weeks.
Oh, you will miss taking photos of them 😀💞
Always next year!
Fabulous photos, you have a real feel for our feathered friends 💜
I love nature. The stupid girl who spitefully called me Mother Nature at school was actually right and it ended up as a compliment!
Yes indeed it is 😊
Love it!
Thanks!
