Today is Friday 30th July

Good afternoon everyone.
The day started wet and cool, so we decided to take a field trip early and were certainly glad we did.

We didn’t need a lot, apart from fueling the car as diesel can vary by as much as 5p a litre within a ten mile radius. I know it’s not exactly practical to travel miles to save a few pence on fuel, but when there are other things to do, well it pays to top up at the same time.

Masks are practically a thing of the past as we were two of about 10 people in a crowded supermarket wearing one today. We didn’t hang around longer than we had to, and left a pack of 10 eggs on the counter as no-one came when we hit the help button on a self service till.
We got most of what we wanted overall, and the pickled beetroot can wait until next time.
Coming home, the sun had come out and with it the tourists as traffic going into the town was bumper to bumper.

Lunch today was salad and a fritatta for me, and pasty and cabbage/tatty cake for Hubby.  I decided to stew the apricots I’d picked the other day, but they were too tangy and sharp for Hubby so he grated a banana to go with his custard instead and I now have two pots for the freezer for a later date.

Our plans are for a quiet weekend as we kiss goodbye to July and welcome August. I shall be writing my monthly Hello letters to our friends this evening.

Have a good day and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    A busy day 🙂

A good idea to combine filling up cheaply with other errands. We also do this.
As to masks – they are still very much in force over here, even though vaccines are moving along nicely now. When masks are finally not needed anymore, I think I shall feel naked without mine, after 17 months of wearing one!! 😀

  4. It’s funny how some places are hotter spots than others regarding masks. I still wear a mask, l even got ridiculed the other day by a non mask wearer. But l would say that 7 out of 10 people in Sandwich still wear a mask.

Apricots are so good! I wish we had a tree but the darned walnut trees are death to most fruit trees…
