Today is Wednesday 28th July

Hello and good morning.
We have had some rain during the night and it’s currently drizzling that fine misty rain.
Showers are forecast throughout the day, but it is still warm and stuffy with an indoor temperature of 22º C. The sun is coming out now.

Yesterday’s trip to the hospital for our neighbour’s laser surgery was straightforward and uneventful. The new bypass has been open a fair while, and access to the hospital is now via that instead of fighting your way through umpteen sets of traffic lights and an industrial estate. We had allowed ourselves plenty of time, aiming to arrive at 3.15. We had parked up at 3.13 so pretty pleased with ourselves! The appointment was scheduled for either 3.30 or 3.45 so there was no rush.
Whilst our friends went inside, we went to register our car and were delighted to find that as a disabled Blue Badge holder, we are entitled to free parking at Lincoln, Boston and Grantham hospitals. We still have to register the new car at Grimsby, once we can work out where we go with all the work going on there! Although parking wouldn’t be free, there is a concession which I think is £2 a day maximum.
We were there just over an hour and a half, so the rush hour was just starting coming home, but we weren’t held up too much. Our passengers offered us some money towards  fuel, but we refused it, and hope they weren’t offended.  Whilst we appreciated the offer, that’s not what we’re about, and besides, it was good to return the favour as he hadn’t hesitated in February to take me up to collect the car when Hubby was admitted for emergency surgery for a food blockage.

Jack has just been delivered complete with blanket, food, treats and water bowl. Being a jack russell, he is considerably smaller than both Maggie and Kela, but he’s worked out how to get outside through the net curtain and is currently sniffing his way round the house. He’s already peed on the buddliah bush again, so it probably feels like home. He’ll take a while to settle so we’re just letting him do his thing. The blanket is down on the floor, two treats have been had, and now he’s jumped on the settee by me and curled up. We have covers on them anyway so it’s not an issue.

Have a good day everyone. Keep safe.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. My post today was on the art of doing favors. You know how to do them right!

  2. Jack Russells, by reputation, are a very high energy breed and if bored can be destructive. But I’m sure your lovely house guest is a good boy and well trained! I hope some photos are forthcoming. Ziggy sends a ‘in the clan’ hello to Jack, as Ziggy is part Manchester Terrier (I believe) mixed with Chihuahua. It sounds lovely your way! Here (today) it’s muggy, over cast and hot. We keep getting teased about some rainfall, but it never materializes. *sigh* Have a great time with your new friend! 🙂

    • We are teased about rain, but it’s hot and muggy here again.
Jack is very protective and barks at anyone or anything that passes the house. However, he has now buried a biscuit in the back garden in case he comes again, and is curled up on his blanket on the settee now fast asleep beside me. As an added bonus he snores quietly, bless him.

I’m so glad your trip to the hospital was uneventful. I definitely understand you refused the money and wouldn’t think your passengers would be offended at all.
