Today is Tuesday 27th July

I’ve been up since about 7.20, not because I had things to do, but it was not a good night for either of us. It was uncomfortably hot and airless and we were snatching an hour or two then waking up.

I have been picking apricots today as a friend in the next road has a tree that is once again laden with fruit. I picked some for our neighbour too and have put the rest in a bowl in the window to finish off. Like apples, they are ready if you touch them and they fall off the tree. I touched a few and got snowballed!

My smoothie maker has bit the dust. Hubby bought it for my birthday but I haven’t got the receipt so can’t take it back under guarantee.Β  It wasn’t expensive, but that’s not the point.
It sprung a leak and I thought I’d over-tightened it, then it was fine for a few days, then leaked again. I had another this morning, and the leaked goo has gone down into the motor body which can’t be taken apart. It’s difficult to clean and the seal stinks of sour yogurt and fruit juice.
It’s a bad design fault I think so when I buy a replacement, I’ll go for a jug blender instead and pay a bit more. I’ve looked a few up and even those have bad reviews, but have found one that has a lowest rating of 3 out of 5, so it would be worth going to an electrical store and having a look at it.

We’ve had an early lunch of cottage pie and will be off to take our neighbour for his eye op in about an hour.

Jack has been inside our house ready for his visit tomorrow, and has already peed twice on the buddliah bush in the garden, so left his calling card. I don’t see any problems anyway, though it seems we have two funerals in the road tomorrow, one at 10.30 and the one we are helping out with at 12.30.

Have a good day and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Did I miss something? Who is Jack? Since he’s peeing in your yard I hope it’s a dog! πŸ™‚ You have a couple of busy days!

    That’s too bad.

Funerals – so sad with 2 in one day… Hope Jack is not too distraught with all the changes in his life. The dogs do recognize death and I firmly believe that they grieve as deeply as their humans do – they just don’t have the words. On a lighter note – I hope you find a smoothie maker that can hold up.

    • Thanks Val. Jack will be OK with us for a few hours and is a godsend to his owner.
I’ve seen a jug blender that should be perfect so might get it next week when a small annuity gets paid out.
