Today is Sunday 25th July

Hello and good morning.
Dull and cloudy, but still warm, yet rain is forecast………. sometime.

Not much on our agenda today, though Hubby is working on his project and has just nipped up the road to get some filling material.

Yesterday, the muggy heat drained us both and we napped on the settees then had an early night. The bedroom was airless even with the windows open, but I managed to sleep until around 2 when I woke up from a nightmare.
The other evening Hubby saved a male spider from being eaten by the female should he try to mate with her. We found the remains of one on the wall not so long ago. Anyway, Mrs Arachnid was on the wall behind the bed, and that will never do, so it was a case of pot and coaster to assist with flying lessons out of the window. She was pretty agitated at being confined and none too happy to be suddenly free without a parachute. Mister was hiding behind the curtain so was given the same treatment but through a different window.
This could well have been my nightmare trigger, though the one in my dream was much bigger and seriously aggressive. Or it could have been a movie Hubby was watching and I was listening to. The dialogue was pretty dire and there was a lot of screaming, which with no visual from where I was sitting was quite amusing.

Onward with our day then. Second day of our chili today and we will both be having a jacket (baked) potato rather than rice. Small gain of a pound in the weight department so I’m not too worried there. It’s been what I would call a ‘picky’ week as I haven’t felt much like cooking and preparing proper meals, so have had a lot of toast snacks.

Have a good day everyone. Take care, and keep safe.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

My husband is of the “catch and release” faction. I’m more the gangster type “Kill them and all their family too!” The rule in our house is if they enter the bedroom or bathroom they must die. All others may be relocated in the witness protection plan to an area outside…I’m pretty sure they’ve gotten the message!

  2. I am a big jacket potatoes fan, Di. I’ve heard it is hot and humid in the UK. It is freezing here. The coldest weather in 70 years.
