Today is Wednesday 21st July

Hello from another scorching hot day in the UK.
The blinds are drawn, the windows are open and we are trying to chill………….. yeah, right. Still, mustn’t complain. Cooler weather will come soon enough, but for now we are staying indoors and keeping away from the visitors.

We’ve had a good day so far. Up quite early and shared the housework though Hubby did most of it as he set to in the kitchen as well as hoovering throughout. Did I ever mention we used to have His and Hers hoovers in the cottage? This was because I can’t get on with a cylinder and he can’t get on with an upright, so we had one of each.  We have a red Henry now and he’s OK. Does the biz.
I got the polish and duster and have had all the knickknacks off the shelves. I hate dusting, and am embarrassed to say it has been well over two months as the first pictures I took with the Canon showed things to be in the same places as today. Oops.
Kela is much more interesting.

Town was heaving when we went up to do some basic shopping of bread and fruit, and lunch is cooking. Hubby is having a McCheese and I’m having a tomato and green bean pasta, first use of the oven in about 4 days.

I had a text message from our roadside recovery company asking to complete a 4 question survey. I had no choice actually as the questions came in regardless.
The first was on a scale of 1 to 10 how well did the operative deal with my cancellation.
I gave them 8 on that as it wasn’t a problem.
Second question, again on a scale of 1 to 10, was would I recommend them.
They got 5. Their price is reasonable and we used them years ago with no problems whatsoever. But with them relying on apps and the like, not so good for someone like me.
Third question was how easy was it to cancel my policy. Another 8 there as she was efficient and polite.
Last was WHY. I told them it was because they were difficult to contact, had no email address, and were totally unable to put documents in the post as requested.
Good news is my cancellation has been recorded, but I will still check my bank account!

Hope you’re having a great day.
Take care and keep safe everyone.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I find that most sites these days do not have phone numbers or even email contact information. They keep sending you to FAQ which never have the answer I need.

Seems to be the “new” business model… It is the same on this side of the Atlantic!

  3. I’ve run into that whole “cell phone/smart phone” crud a lot lately, and more and more as time goes on. I get the horrified look on their faces saying “You DON’T TEXT??!” as if I’ve committed a mortal sin or something. I say “No. My cell phone doesn’t get good reception.” That usually puts paid to the issue. I still have a huge number of occurrences where that information does not sink in and the twerp on the smart/cell phone still tries to text my land line. they’ll eventually call me or email me and say “did you know your phone is broken?” to which we go around again about how I DON’T TEXT. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to shake that damned idea out of folks’ head. I think keeping a close eye on your bank account for a while is a great idea because, while not precisely trying to cheat a customer, they will claim they didn’t get a message that you cancelled. I hope it cools down some for y’all. It remains ‘surface of the sun’ hot here too. My sympathies!

    • We get that reaction when we say we haven’t got a telly. I text my neighbour and Kela’s owner every day to make sure they’re OK, but other than that, my mobile sits quietly on the table and charged every 2 days as it’s on 24/7 (not that anyone wants to contact us as a rule!).
As the company have contacted me with their survey following my cancellation, I believe it has been processed, but I’m still not taking any chances.

Good they acknowledged cancellation, but like you are doing, I agree with keeping close eyes on your bank account.

I can get on with any vacuum cleaner nearly, as long as it’s not a Dyson upright.
I have a red Henry vacuum cleaner and I have had him for some time now. Henry came in handy due to a property I was once in, had no handy socket to reach the bathroom. So this was why I had a Henry, as I knew these had long enough cable to reach accordingly.

Yes, its been too hot these last few days for me. I have avoided going, unless it’s really necessary.
