“I summon you, the beasts of war!”

“I summon you, the beasts of war!”
It was a desperate act as they were losing ground and the battle, but it was a gross error of judgement.
The clouds closed in and tremors were felt under their feet. Out of the carnage and ruins of their making, hideous shapes began to appear.
Huge, gigantic creatures never before seen in this world rose amidst bellows and screams of terror.
The troops on both sides scattered, none of them having signed up for this.
Laser eyes focused and eliminated their target, leaving nothing but vapour.
Tentacles stretched to entrap bodies, snap necks, immobilize legs, tossing their prey into the fires of hell.
‘What did you do??’ came an anguished cry of a sergeant as he was thrown against a wall with such force, every bone in his body shattered. He slumped, silent in death, like a sack of jelly at his commander’s feet.
There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, nowhere to escape the onslaught.
The Beasts of War saw Mankind as the enemy and destroyed them all.
Now was their time to rule, and nothing could stop them.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
