Here we go with another prompt with which to weave a tale:
This week’s Fandango’s teaser is:
To be clear, what you’re saying is that…
It started off as a normal day.
The alarm went off, he got up, showered, had breakfast, put the dishes in the dishwasher, picked up his keys, locked up and got in the car to drive to work.
His parking space was free as always, he punched in his security code at the door, greeted the receptionist on the desk, got in the lift, and went up to his office.
He’d just settled behind his desk with a cup of coffee when his assistant told him his mother was on the phone.
Rolling his eyes, he said to put her through and sat back ready to listen to the latest anguish in her life.
Instead, his mother was animated and excited with her news, so much so, he sat bolt upright nearly spilling his coffee in the process.
Stunned, he said
“To be clear, what you’re saying is that you’ve remarried. As in tied the knot, got hitched, jumped the broomstick, the whole ‘I do’ bit. When did this happen?’
‘Last week.’
‘LAST WEEK?? And you didn’t think to tell me? Who is he??’
‘Calm down Jerry. We’ve known each other for years. He’ll look after me. After all, isn’t that what you wanted?’
‘What?’
‘Don’t play all innocent. I know you contacted Jim a few months ago after we were talking about your dad and our college days. Jim was best man at our wedding! I thought you’d be happy for me. ‘
Jerry went very quiet.
‘Hello? Jerry? You still there?’
‘Yeah Ma, I’m here. Congratulations to you both.’
‘Thank you dear. Have a good day.’
and she rung off.
Jerry smiled into the silent phone.
‘Thanks Jim.’ he said.
Good story Di with Jerry getting what he wanted.
Thanks Jim
