Today is Friday 9th July

Good afternoon from a lovely breezy UK. The sun is out and we are forecast to have a heatwave. I am grateful we have our fans to keep cool as neither of us like the heat, and Kela has such a thick coat, it can’t be comfortable for her either. Saying that though, she is stretched outside on the drive doing a very good impression of a shagpile rug having found a shady spot under the bathroom window.
We all had a good night last night, so after a lie in have had a late start to the day.

I’ve spoken to Kela’s owner this morning and they think they may have found the cause of her BP issues. There is a meeting between consultants and surgeons this afternoon so she will know more then. She has arranged a delivery of dog biscuits early next week as we are getting a little low, but are OK for tinned food (8 days), meds (10 days) and treats.  She’s OK, but fed up and wants to come home and have her baby back.

We walked Kela round the block this morning and chatted to several people, so that took up a fair part of our morning too.

Lunch has been had, a cauliflower cheese for Hubby and tomato pasta for me. I cooked the cauli first so that it would be nice and soft, then added my cheese sauce, making sure it wasn’t too thick. My meal was the other way as the last few I’ve made have been too wet and sloppy but I got things right today for both so they went down very well. Hubby has split his and will have the other half later.

The cabbage white butterflies have found their way through the netting by folding their wings and hopping through the holes. Hubby is not impressed at their cheek and went out to get some spray, but will have to apply it tonight as it’s too hot at the moment.

Not much on our agenda today, so will sign off here.
Hope your day is off to a positive start. Keep safe and take care everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Although I’m not really a dog expert, I understand that the thick fur acts as an insulator in both hot and cold weather so maybe she isn’t as uncomfortable as she looks. I bet her owner misses her big time.

    • This makes a lot of sense Kate, especially as she is part Husky. We have groomed her every day and surprisingly not that much of her coat is loose.
Yes, her owner misses here terribly and can’t wait to have her back (we’ll be helping out with walks then). I am sure Kela is missing her mummy too and glad she’s accepting us as substitutes.

It’s surprising how much time having a dog takes up, but so worth it.
Enjoy your fur baby while you can 😀

    • No dog can ever replace Maggie, but Kela is a pleasure and credit to her owner.

No, never replace, but your heart expands to include other animals 🙂
Kela looks a lovely dog and so furry! 😀

      • She is………. very! My heart just grows another chamber to accommodate a new furbaby. Any closer yourself?

      • scifihammy says:

I’m not looking at the moment, with all our lockdown restrictions over here. Tho my heart has an empty space waiting for a rescue.

      • We’ve found rescue centres either have nothing or dogs with issues, which although we could cope with most, the main is socializing, and a dog would have to learn to share us, especially me, so it could make matters worse. Pups are horrendously expensive as people are jumping on the bandwagon with greed, so this is a good compromise, plus we are putting her owner’s mind at ease because Kela knows us and has settled in with no trouble.

I agree about the rescue dogs. Although I Can deal with their baggage, I have decided I no longer wish to, and want an easy going, well-socialised dog. They are few and far between and snapped up instantly!
Having Kela is a great solution. 🙂

      • She has been no trouble whatsoever.

  3. It sounds like a lovely relaxing day to me, Di.

I hope the neighbor can get her surgery and recover soon!
