Today is Wednesday 7th July

Good afternoon!
The day has got away from me what with one thing and another, but it has been a good day!

After breakfast, I took Kela for a walk round the block, then left her at home with Hubby who was waiting for a phone call. I walked up to town and bought a large tarpaulin for the back of the car to protect the upholstery under Kela’s quilt ready for when we have to take her out. I also got a night light for the bedroom so that she can see where she’s going, though last night she settled under the window for the majority of the night until around 7 this morning.
From there I went to put some credit on my phone as our calls to the surgery yesterday set me back almost £7!
I needed fruit having used the last of my blueberries and strawberries in my smoothie this morning, so went into the local Lidl. The car park was practically empty and the shop itself not too busy so I picked up more strawberries, four greenish bananas and some grapes.

Hubby had a prescription to collect, so as I was practically at the surgery pharmacy, I wandered down to get that and also the one that the doctor has sent electronically this morning. The girl retrieved it and filled it there and then, so nothing is outstanding.
Then I walked home.

It started to rain so I took shelter in the bus station as I didn’t have a coat, making friends with a 12 month old border collie bitch until it stopped. Hubby rang to ask if I wanted him to pick me up and I said there was no need as the rain was easing off and I’d be home soon.
I started off again and got home just after 11 o’clock, and had just emptied the shopping bags when the skies opened. What a deluge!! I would have been a drowned rat if I got caught in that lot! In total, I guess I’ve walked about 5 miles so far today, and we shall be walking Kela tonight as usual.

Pictures taken with my phone last night………. I found the zoom control!!!

Last night we let her take the lead sotospeak, and she led us into the park and across the car park. From there it was up on the prom and turning in the opposite direction, left by the cafe and back through the park to home. Speaking to her owner this morning, that is the usual evening route.
Kela didn’t eat very much yesterday so having checked it was OK, I put some boiled chicken and rice in with her dinner today. She didn’t eat it all, but did eat most of it, so that’s a good sign. The heat is likely to be affecting her appetite as it did Maggie, but her pain meds probably have something to do with it too.  She’s outside lying on the drive fast asleep at the moment.

Hope your day is going well. Take care and keep safe everyone.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

She’s probably a little homesick too.

  2. We are finally getting some rain this morning. I’m hoping for full rain barrels. I was down to the last dribbles out of my fourth and finally 55 gallon barrel. We got up early and picked wild black raspberries in the park behind our neighborhood. They were fewer this year because of lack of rain. I’m thankful for what we found and that it didn’t start downpouring before we could get home! We were a bit more fortunate than you in that. :-}

  3. I discovered why I wasn’t seeing your posts, WP (up to its usual tricks) had taken you off my ‘followed’ list. Grrr. Well you’re back now and I hope all is sorted! Kela sounds lovely. I’m going to have do a bit of catch up to find out all about her. I was going to say that her appetite might be due to homesickness (like Jen did, but since she covered it no more need be said). It sounds lovely over your way. Here? It’s hot and it’s sunny and I expect the same until September. *sigh* I’d love a big deluge of rain, and wouldn’t even mind being trapped out in it, but no hope in that area.

    • Glad to have you back!
We’ve had rain today, but I got home before the big stuff hit. It’s cooler now, but has been muggy. The weather here is all over the place. Kela has a very thick coat so feels the heat, but likes to lie outside on the drive during the day. She sleeps a lot, but this apparently is normal for her. Her home is directly behind us so she’s not that far away and our walks are familiar territory. She took us last night and we’ll do the same route tonight.

You certainly dodged the heavy downpour! Sounds like Kela is doing fine… The heat will cause a drop in appetite in dogs and people!

Sounds like a good day all round 💜💜💜
