Today, for #5things, list the types of posts that you love to write.
So for me to get my teeth really into a prompt, if a word count is listed, that is a challenge! I’m OK if it’s no more than say, 100 or 200 words (Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner, or Friday Fictioneers) but if it is 100 (Bikurgirl), 99 (Carrot Ranch) or even only 6 (6 word story prompt) words exactly, then I really have to think!
I also like the photo prompts.
There are a lot of those about (Fandango, Sadje’s What do you See, and Sue Vincent’s writephoto which is now hosted by KL Caley). I try to find something in the picture to base my take on, and have a twist in the tail.
Word prompts are also a favourite, whether prose or poetry, trying to use one word that has to appear somewhere in your writing (one word challenges, weekend writing prompt), or you are given opposites or alternatives to put into a story (Saturday Mix Opposing Forces/Same Same, but Different). There are also the 12 word wordle challenges (Sunday Whirl and Monday’s MLMM) which I do every week. I also do my own weekly Take Seven using all 21 words of my daily Three Things Challenge.
Love these, from Melanie’s Share Your World to Rory’s mixed bag of quickies and bloggerz to Frank’s Truthful Tuesdays. I co-host the Fibbing Friday alternate weeks with him and they are fun, to both do and prepare.
Jim hosts the Song Lyric Sunday which I usually participate in, though this is probably the only musical one I do unless something really strikes a chord (pun intended). On the other hand, I have added musical videos to posts I’ve written because they hold special memories , or I simply find them powerful or beautiful.
